Rolake Akinkugbe-Filani

Rolake Akinkugbe-Filani is a senior finance and investment executive with over 18 years’ experience advising and financing high-growth companies across Africa’s energy, infrastructure, and financial services sectors. As Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of EnergyInc Advisors, she now supports firms with capital raising, investor relations, and strategic growth, having helped mobilise capital and structure over $10 billion+ in deals across corporate finance, infrastructure, and energy sector roles throughout her career.
She was most recently Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Development at a Tier-1 Nigerian financial institution, where she led a landmark, oversubscribed capital raise in 2024 and drove engagement with institutional investors and capital markets stakeholders. Prior to that, she held senior roles at the Danish Investment Fund (IFU), advising on energy sector equity investments, and for many years as Head of Energy at FBN Capital and FBNQuest Merchant Bank, where she structured and executed debt and equity financing for clients in the energy and infrastructure sectors. She also previously led commercial operations and strategy for the infrastructure subsidiary of ARM Group, across Nigeria,Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal.

Rolake serves, and has served on several boards. She is currently a Non-Executive Director and Investment Committee member of All On, a Shell-backed energy impact fund investing in off-grid energy ventures, and also Fund Advisor on cleantech to LateralFrontiers a VC firm investing in frontier technologies. She also previously served on the advisory boards of Aruwa Capital Management, a gender-lens private equity fund, and Persistent Energy, a climate-focused investor. She is also a director on the board of UpEnergy, a pan-African carbon finance platform, and on the global board Save the Children International, contributing to governance earlier through its Finance Committee and now its global Audit & Risk and People & Organisation Committees.

Rolake also anchors weekend business show, Business Week, on Arise News, where she covers global economic, finance, and business themes shaping African and international markets. She holds a BSc and MSc from the London School of Economics and an MBA from TRIUM (LSE, HEC &NYU)
