About
The Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB)
The Bahamas Financial Services Board is a public–private partnership established in April 1998 to promote and strengthen The Bahamas as a leading international financial centre. Created through collaboration between the government and private sector, it serves as the unified voice of the country’s financial services industry, bringing together professionals from banking, trust, insurance, legal, and advisory fields.
Since its inception, BFSB has played a central role in advancing the sector’s global reputation, advocating for regulatory modernisation and supporting the development of competitive legislation. It represents and promotes all major areas of financial services, including wealth management, insurance, mutual funds, capital markets, and emerging digital asset industries.
The organisation’s work focuses on international promotion, policy collaboration, and industry development. Through global marketing initiatives, conferences, and targeted outreach, BFSB enhances The Bahamas’ visibility to investors and clients worldwide. It also partners closely with government and regulators to ensure compliance with international standards, particularly in anti-money laundering and financial innovation.
Education and workforce development are key priorities, with training, certification, and mentorship programmes supporting the next generation of financial professionals. Governed by an elected board drawn from industry stakeholders, BFSB operates on a collaborative model that reflects both public and private sector interests.
Guided by a mission to advance the financial services industry and a vision to position The Bahamas as a globally competitive financial hub, BFSB continues to drive growth, innovation, and international engagement across the sector.
